Children’s Ministry

At Catawba Valley children are our top priority because they are the FUTURE of the church. Our goal is to have something for all ages to keep children interested and excited about their growth with God. Scroll down to see what we have to offer your child based on their age.

Nursery

Nursery is provided at all of our services for children under two.

Children’s Church

Here at Catawba Valley, we take the spiritual welfare of our children very seriously. Our Children’s church consists of ages 4-8 during the Sunday morning sermon.

We depart from the parents during fellowship time and have our time during the sermon. We have prayer and memorize Bible verses. We use a curriculum of DVD’s that are very Biblically sound. We also serve a light snack.

We want the children to hear as much of God’s word as possible. Our prayer is that your child will learn about Jesus, His plan of salvation,  and come to know Him as their personal Savior.

Mission Friends

Mission Friends is focused on ages 4-6 year old and meets on Wednesday nights at 7PM. Mission Friends is about teaching Children that they grow just as Jesus grew – mentally (in wisdom), physically (in structure), and spiritually (in favor with God). Our goal is to lay a strong spiritual foundation in the life of each child we teach, with the hope that when older, each child will accept Christ as Savior.

We want to help children begin to understand that God is creator, giver of all good thing; Jesus is God’s Son and best friend, and the Bible is the true, special book that tells about God and Jesus.

We want the children to understand that church is a happy and safe place to learn the truths through activity-based teaching which includes Bible-learning activities that allow them to make progress in problem solving, sharing, and expressing themselves in appropriate ways, thinking of others with kindness, and learning to love others as themselves.

Toddler Time

Toddler Time is focused on children ages 2-3 years old and meets during the Sunday morning service. Toddler Time gives your child the opportunity to play and make new friends with others who are his or her age. Toddler Time consist of watching and engaging in age-appropriate Biblical videos and activities. All Toddlers receive focused time and attention from our loving leaders. Snacks and drinks are provided. Spring and summer months Toddlers receive free time outside in our large fenced in playground.

Children In Action

Children in Action is a missions discipleship organization for children in grades 1–6 who meet on Wednesday nights at 7PM. Every boy or girl has an important place in Children in Action. Members of Children in Action learn about and pray for missions. They do missions work and give money to missions. Plus, they have a great time!

Monthly activities are scheduled for Children In Action. Activities have included Skateland, Bowling and the Trampoline Park. Members of Children in Action are encouraged to bring friends to class on Wednesday nights and to all scheduled CA’s activities.

Kidz Kwire

In the children’s choir at CVBC, we call it the Kidz Kwire so the children would know it’s something that sets them apart and to know it’s cool to be different.  The wire in Kwire reminds us how music connects us to each other and to our Heavenly Father.

Each Sunday evening while the adults are enjoying evening worship in the main sanctuary, we get together in our wonderfully acoustic room where we pray together, laugh together, eat together, color together, create together and, oh yes, we sing a little too!  Some songs even require learning a little sign language which really puts a smile on the face on those who participate but also the parents when they see their children share it with their family at home.  We also learn about different instruments and how their sounds differ from each other but serves a purpose to making beautiful music both alone and in an orchestra of musical instruments.

As the children learn various types of songs, we learn not only the words, tune and rhythm of each song but the meaning of the words and story behind the song.  There is no sense in learning a song written about our Lord and Savior if we don’t understand the words of praise we’re lifting to His ears.  We are occasionally able to sing as a choir in the Sunday morning worship service, but recitals are not our primary goal or function.  We strive to instill a love of ‘Jesus music’ (as opposed to the other music produced by the world) that will live in their hearts for years to come and create joyful and confident congregational singers as well.

Once the children know their voice is being heard by God and how much He loves hearing their sweet songs, they will hopefully see the brilliant and magnificent God we see as adults each day.

This musical opportunity, alongside the other ministries we provide for children here at CVBC, is intended to show God’s love, share God’s gift of forgiveness, and shine a light on the path of righteousness that is available to each of them, if they only believe.
